I have a large library of travel books and picked this one up as a new edition travel book covering the area, which I plan to visit this year. I also have Moon books on the same region that are several years old, so I hoped getting a newer version from a different perspective would be insightful.Unfortunately, it seems that the book tries to cover such a large region, that there are few actual details on many places as compared to the Moon books. For example, I am looking at visiting Kootenay National Park and it has but 3 small paragraphs of coverage.It is well organized and if you want a nice read on the breadth of the larger area, it is fine, but if you want some deeper details to help plan a trip, it is a bit lacking. For that reason, I give it 3 stars.
This was the most useful book I could find when we decided to travel from Seattle to Vancouver. It helped me plan our routing whereas the AAA guide for British Columbia did not. I wasn't thrilled with it, but it was helpful.
Love this book on the Kindle app. I used it so much in Vancouver and Whistler. Love the insights and booking suggestions. Good job LP.
I took a 12-day BC/AB road trip starting and ending in Vancouver (see attached itinerary screenshot).There's a very decent amount of detail when you remember how much land is covered. Overall, a worthwhile purchase. Hoping there's an updated version soon.
Just what I needed.
I'm a Lonely Planet Guide fan, and bought this for my upcoming visit to Victoria and Vancouver. This one disappointed me though. I found it difficult to navigate. The other Kindle Versions of Lonely Planet Guides had many more bookmarks and "Go To's" set up.I felt there were far too many pages of proposed itineraries. Perhaps this was because I only had an interest in those two cities and not the region. I really can't think of any information that I obtained from the guide that was useful.
If you want to visit Vancouver, then buy the book.If you want to visit British Columbia, then this in NOT for youThe little they have is so hard to follow, it isn't possible to find the listing on a map
This book was somewhat helpful on my trip to the Canadian Rockies. It included limited information on each site it addressed.
