I enjoyed reading through this book before I traveled, and I used it for the first time this week to get some ideas where to go {I was in Dallas over a 3 day weekend}. Interestingly when I asked some co-workers who live in Dallas for ideas on what to do, they had some of the same suggestions. I don't mean this book is unoriginal or suggests obvious places, but rather that it includes things that real people actually enjoy. It has a nice variety of things such as antique districts, boutique shopping, dining, cultural activities, family oriented excursions, and the outdoors. I like the way it is organized by geography, so you can blend portions of trips in the same area to fit your interests. I would definitely recommend this book, including to people who live in the area who would like to be "tourists" in their own backyard.
We have lived in the DFW metro area for about three years and enjoy it.We have to entertain the grand kids this summer so we thought we could find some daytrips to keep them busy.They love going through this book with us to plan our next trip.I would recommend this to anyone living or planning on visiting the area.
This book offers several good ideas for getaways from Dallas. It is a good resource. Definitely offers up more detail than some other books I have seen on the subject.
I just read in the author's bio that she grew up in Dallas, & this definitely feels like an "insider" guide. The author comes up with varied, off-the-beaten-path trips, such as the Dallas area's cool art scene, which was news to me, but so much fun to explore, thanks to this book. Besides its great info, this book is fun to read & well organized. I hope to see more guidebooks by Sandra Ramani--she really & totally gets what travel & day-tripping are about.
this book is a great resource for anyone visiting dallas for an extended period of time or new residents. a variety of day trips are suggested. there's something for anyone. ramani is a pithy travel writer and her research is thorough. highly recommend buying a copy for your next trip to texas.
